SOMC, HPAE kick off negotiations

Southern Ocean Medical Center and HPAE Local 5138 kicked-off negotiations for a new contract covering Registered Nurses on Feb. 10. The current contract expires April 30.

Why it’s important 

• SOMC and HPAE may accept, reject or seek to change proposals during the negotiations process
• Proposals are simply points for discussion
• Any changes to the labor contract must be agreed upon by the negotiating teams and are subject to ratification by the union team members.

What happens next

• Negotiations resume Feb. 25-26
• Six dates are scheduled in March
• Four dates are scheduled in April
